About CHARIS
The CHARIS (Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Response; the Interfaith Solution) Project; a CHAN project funded by PEPFAR through the US CDC, seeks to scale up prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and the development of indigenous capacity in 14 Nigerian states of Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Ondo, Plateau and Taraba. The project is operational in a total of thirty-one comprehensive Service Delivery Facilities (SDFs), fifty-seven satellite sites and three OVC-CBOs.
While CHAN is fully in charge of programme, grant and supply chain management, some aspects of the project are handled through sub-awards. The Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN) and the Centre for Clinical Care and Research in Nigeria (CCRN) have sub-awards to manage some SDFs; Institute of Human Virology-University of Maryland School of Medicine (IHV-UMSOM) have a sub-award to establish treatment protocols and ensure the development of clinical technical capacity, while Futures Group has another sub-award to handle Strategic Information for the project. Catholic Relief Services; the final sub-awardee, provides technical assistance on program and grant and compliance management.
