About CHARIS
CHARIS (Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Response; the Interfaith Solution) Project is a CHAN project funded by PEPFAR (US President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief) Project funded through the US CDC ( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine (IHV-UMSOM), Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN) and the Futures Group are subgrantees on the project. CHARIS seeks to scale up prevention care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and development of indigenous capacity in Nigeria. As the project's prime, CHAN take the overall lead in programme, grant and supply chain management; while the subgrantees handle other technical aspects of the project as described below:
- IHV-UMSOM establishes treatment protocols and ensures the development of clinical technical capacity,
- Futures Group handles Strategic Information for the project.
- CRS and CCFN manage some Service Delivery Facilities, while CRS in addition, provides technical support to the SDFs on capacity building, strategic governace and sustainability.
