OVERVIEW
Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) in collaboration with Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is implementing the 4.5 year ‘Nigeria Indigenous Capacity Building (NICaB) Project’, whose aim is to expand access to quality HIV related services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through strengthening CHAN member institutions’ and NGO’s ability to respond to HIV/AIDS in their communities; provide quality HIV/AIDS services. It will also integrate TB and HIV diagnosis and treatment.  NICaB draws on CHAN’s over 30 years experience in supporting and coordinating church-sponsored health care programs that serve 40% of the Nigerian population and MSH’s 35 years of experience in developing the capacity of NGO’s, FBOs, and CSOs with USAID support.

NICaB works in Abia, Benue, Delta, Oyo, Taraba and Sokoto states, and is the first indigenous project to launch comprehensive and life saving ART services delivery to PLWHAs and family members through faith based hospitals in hard to reach communities. Technical approaches for capacity building include using MOST and LDP training methodology as well as training in HCT, ARVs, laboratory management, care and support, HIV/TB service delivery and community mobilization. NICaB works through partnerships with NGOs and FBOs using performance based funding and cross cutting linkages. NICaB collaborates with the Government of Nigeria at all levels, 5 denominational networks as well as other PEPFAR partners/projects including; LMS Pro-ACT, Plan Health, GHAIN, IHVN, and CRS AIDS Relief.
NICaB main goal is to deliver safe, quality, coordinated, comprehensive, timely and sustainable TB and HIV/AIDS integrated care and support services to communities. Its’ objectives includes;
