
OVERVIEW
Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) in collaboration with Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is implementing the 4.5 year ‘Nigeria Indigenous Capacity Building (NICaB) Project’, whose aim is to expand access to quality HIV related services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through strengthening CHAN member institutions’ and NGO’s ability to respond to HIV/AIDS in their communities; provide quality HIV/AIDS services. It will also integrate TB and HIV diagnosis and treatment. NICaB draws on CHAN’s over 30 years experience in supporting and coordinating church-sponsored health care programs that serve 40% of the Nigerian population and MSH’s 35 years of experience in developing the capacity of NGO’s, FBOs, and CSOs with USAID support.
NICaB main goal is to deliver safe, quality, coordinated, comprehensive, timely and sustainable TB and HIV/AIDS integrated care and support services to communities. Its’ objectives includes;
- Strengthen CHAN’s capacity to become a strong supporter of local capacity to deliver HIV/AIDS ` services.
- Develop capacity of twelve hospitals in six states to effectively provide comprehensive HIV/AIDS services.
- Strengthen three networks to oversee the performance of small grants to local CBOs and CSOs.
- Build the skills of care providers, volunteers, and community leaders to assure prevention, care and treatment services in their communities.
PROJECT COMPONENTS
- Develop the capacity of CHAN and selected organization, including faith-based organizations.
- Upgrade the standards of service delivery points to meet the needs of Nigerians Living with HIV/AIDS.
- Provide quality care for PLWHAs.
- Reduce stigma by working through faith-based organizations.
